Eidea is a crossroads between the real world and a computer generated artificial life world where images, sound, and lights are created or manipulated through the interactions of the virtual computer realm and the physical world.

An artificial world is an imaginary creation that imitates the real world. It is not an animation, but an in the moment calculation made and displayed by the computer as it is being watched. It is a simulation of sorts, where artificial beings exist only in relationship to other artificial beings. The laws of the world determine how the creatures interact and behave, which can sometimes be like the real laws of nature, or sometimes can be completely ridiculous.

Eidea is a world with its own rules that govern the creatures that exist within its bounds. Each animal in Eidea has a genetic code, a DNA strand of 2500 numbers which determine how that animal functions: speed, dexterity, strength, eyesight, and body size are a few of these genes. Each animal lives within a changing environment governed by four seasons which cycle every 10000 "eidea minutes" (about an hour).
Eidea has one kind of plant which grows and responds to the seasons. These "trees", turn bright colors in the spring with lots of new fruit; greenish in the summer as the fruit ripens; blue in the fall as the fruit drops from the trees; and then finally lay dormant in the winter minutes. Trees have lifespans from 500 eidea years to upward of 3000 eidea years.

When a tree dies it explodes in a brilliant display, like fireworks:

Animals are born, grow, move around, breed, have offspring, eat, and finally die. Lifespans of the animals vary from 1 to 70 eidea years (7000 eidea minutes).

There are three kinds of creatures in eidea boids, wolfoids, and turoids. Boids are flying creatures and come in three body types:

Fish

Bird

Wasp

Wolfoids are aggressive hunting animals, these are:

 Bears

 Wolfs

Turoids are gentler ground crawling creatures and are:

Cursors

 Worms

As each creature lives, there may be particular moments that are more apparent.
For instance, when a creature dies of old age, it slowly disintegrates line by line dropping to the ground: When a creature starves to death it is flattened:
When a creature is eaten, it is sucked into a predator: When a creature is killed it explodes:

So where's the art? The art is in the interaction of the creatures with the real world. The existence of this world effects the real world through artifacts of Image:

Light and Sound. These "art artifacts" are continually recreated and modified as they are viewed, evolving according to sensed data interpreted by the artificial life world. The viewer influences the art through interacting with a personal creature, and by their presence within the gallery.
